- National Atlas of the United States
This is a interactive version of the atlas that allows you to explore the U.S. and look at a wide variety of data. Here are some of the map layers you can view.
- Biology - butterfly distribution, individual butterfly and moth species distribution, land cover diversity and characteristics, bird survey routes, and zebra mussel distribution
- Boundaries - counties, federal and Indian lands, metropolitan ares, public land surven system, and states
- Environment - air releases, discharces to water, hazardous waste handler, superfund sites, and toxic releases
- Geology - abandoned coal mine related problems, agricultural, construction and industrial minerals operations, ferrous and nonferrous metal mines and processing plants, shaded relief, significant earthquakes and volcanoes
- People - ethnic population, median family income, mortality, male to female ratio, per capita income and population per square mine for 1990 and 1995
- Transportation - airports, parkways and scenic rivers, railroads and roads
- Water - dams, watersheds, aquifers, streamflow stations and streams and waterbodies
- Reference - cities and towns, index to aerial photographs, latitude/longitude, time zones and urban areas
- Scorecard.org
Scorecard is an Environmental Defense Fund site that provides environmental mapping data for the majority of the U.S. There are maps for identifying who and what are contributing to the pollution levels. Entering a ZIP code will allow you to get local county data. You can compare one county with up to four other counties to see how they stack up. The data returned in the county comparison is broken into five categories.
- Toxics - Toxic releases to the environment
- Air - Cancer risk from outdoor air
- Water - Toxic releases to water
- Land - Toxic releases to land
- Waste - Animal wastes from farms
- Environmental Atlas
This is a site of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It offers a collection of maps to help you understand the quality, or lack thereof, of the environment.
- Surf Your Watershed
This EPA site allows you to locate the watershed for different areas. In addition to maps of watersheds, you can find what watershed your community drinking water comes from.
- EnviroMapper for Watersheds
This EPA site is an interactive map of watersheds with many selectable layers.
- U.S. Census Bureau TMS Project
The Tiger Mapping Service is intended to provide national-scale street-level mapping. It is a clickable map that includes many selectable layers.
- Factory Farm Project
The goal of the project is to eliminate factory farming in favor of a better, more sustainable food production system. There is general information as well as information on a state by state basis.
- TerraServer
The TerraServer is a Microsoft site that provides satellite image date from the U.S Geological Survey. The image maps are of the U.S. and other areas. The 1 meter per pixel maximum resolution is more than enough to see houses, roads and terrain detail.
- Tillers International
The Tillers' are dedicated to preserving the rural skills that are useful on a small farm. To that end, they host classes and sell related publications, plans, videos and products.

Kentucky
- EPA State Atlas Links
This is the EPA link page for the state.
- Commonwealth of Kentucky
As expected, this site has a wide variety of information on the counties and some of the larger cities in Kentucky. There are also county, physiographic and relief maps of the state.
- Kentucky Geological Survey
This site has information on Kentucky geology as well as some road maps, some online and some paper maps for sale.
- EPA State Atlas Links

This is the EPA link page for the state.
- Thematic Maps
These are maps related to agriculture, education, households, income, population and youth. The maps are for Missouri counties but also include U.S. state maps.

This University of Texas site has online version of a state map and various city maps.

Located in Kidron, Ohio, Lehmans's provides many non-electric items to the local Amish community.
- Real Goods Trading Corp.
They have a wide variety of useful products from alternative power sources to cleaning supplies, with a great many more products in between.
- Modern Farm
An on-line country store with all types of merchandise.
- 18 James
18 James is run by the former owners of Maple Lawn Farms. They provide consulting and research services and host rural FAQs on lambing, haying, pastures and predators.
